Gluten Free Menu: Yes   Look for a superscript GF on the regular menus

Description: Traditional Sonoran cultural style and innovative Tucson style Mexican Food. There is a good variety of GF menu choices. Shrimp fajitas and charro beans are a favorite of our reviewer. Tortilla chips may be fried in contaminated fryer. It varies depending on the location. Make sure to investigate the specific restaurant's fryer before eating the tortilla chips. Corn tortillas are cooked on the grille with flour tortillas. The GF menu is specific about what not to order or what to order--such as refried beans are not OK, charro beans are OK.
Comments: Apr 16, 2017: I went to El Charro because I was excited by all the gluten-free options. It should say not for people with Celiac Disease. They only have one fryer so all gluten and non-gluten goes in there. I ordered a burro with a gluten free tortilla and they brought me a flour tortilla. I had to send it back. They also have an open kitchen. Commentor's sensitivity: NON-digestive Symptoms (migraines, anemia, joint pain, etc) and has an immediate and unmistakable reaction
Jan 5, 2015: Ate at the Sunrise location. Our server was very knowledgeable about their gluten Free options and was thorough to make sure I got what I needed. I had the chicken fajitas and had chips & salsa. I'm very sensitive and had no issues within a day of the meal. Good service overall. Commentor's sensitivity: Digestive Symptoms (gas, bloating, diarrhea, constipation, etc) and can usually (but not always) be certain if they've eaten gluten
Apr 22, 2010: I've eaten twice off the gluten-free menu, including the chips, at the El Charro downtown and not had a problem. Commentor's sensitivity: Digestive Symptoms (gas, bloating, diarrhea, constipation, etc) and has an immediate and unmistakable reaction
Apr 1, 2010: I ate at from the gluten free menu at the Kolb and Sunrise 3 times. The first time everything was fine. The second time I had stomach pains shortly after leaving the restaurant. The third (and last) time I ate there I had diarrhea before leaving the restaurant. I had not seen your review of El Charro so I don't know if this location has a contaminated fryer and I ate the chips all 3 times that I went. Commentor's sensitivity: NON-digestive Symptoms (migraines, anemia, joint pain, etc) and can NOT be certain if they\'ve eaten gluten
