Description: Gluten free pizza is listed on the menu. They use a designated oven and designated pizza stones. "Wow! It tasted really, really good. Almost like Pizza Hut pan pizza. It is a gourmet pizza place so prices are not cheap but to be able to go out for pizza is really big!!. Portions are huge." Many former Picazzo's Pizza locations are no longer doing business as part of the Picazzo's restaurant chain. The Tucson location is closed.
Comments: Jan 10, 2014: My family has numerous celiacs and we have been to the Scottsdale location many times and it has been a wonderful experience, every time. No reactions ever. Nice, bready crust, good ingredients. The best part, however, is the fact that the majority of the food is gluten free, so the appetizers are gluten free, most of the main dishes are gluten free, and the desserts are gluten free. It's lovely. Commentor's sensitivity: NON-digestive Symptoms (migraines, anemia, joint pain, etc) and has an immediate and unmistakable reaction
Jul 18, 2011: Since Picazzo's on Tucson's NW side closed for remodeling and has reopened, their food and service has been Top Notch. The new manager, Micah, is wonderful and very helpful when it comes to GF questions. Her staff are also knowledgeable on GF needs and can confidently serve now that they reopened. Most of my gluten free patients and I were unhappy with the service and cross contamination issues when they first opened last year, but since they have remodeled (I assume it was only the staff they remodeled since it still looks the same) we have had NO problems and eat there weekly. Oh, and the food is delicious. Jul 2, 2010: We tried the Tucson location with horrible outcome. Our server was not knowledgeable about gluten sensitivity and brought me a gluten pizza even though I ordered gluten-free. After bringing me a GF pizza, they took all our food away to box it up. We were over charged $10, and the manager on duty argued with my husband when he pointed it out. When we got to the car my husband said they didn't box up his bread that came with his lasagna (he is not GF). So we checked and they had put his gluten bread on top of my GF pizza. They also put my chidrens' gluten mac n cheese and GF meatballs in the same to-go box too (gross to combine 2 plates in same box anyways!!). The asst. manager was irate at me when I took it back in and told her that I couldn\'t eat the 3/4 of my pizza that was left, and my daughter couldn't eat her GF meatballs. I told her that if they are going to serve GF they need to educate staff on the severity of the disease and the reactions we have. She defended her servers and did not even offer an apology. All she stated to me was "I understand" but did very little to remedy the situation. I'm very disappointed in the new Tucson Location. I have eaten in the Phoenix locations without any cross contamination or challenges with the staff. Jun 28, 2010: This is my new favorite restaurant - I've eaten there six times in the seven weeks they've been open. I've never had an issue; three of the times I went was with another gluten-intolerant friend, who is also lactose intolerant. They were incredibly accommodating and helpful. Plus, the food is wonderful and the gluten-free menu of pizzas and pastas is extensive. Last time I was in, the owner even offered to let us try their gluten-free beer - too bad we had to go back to work after our lunch! Feb 19, 2010: Picazzo's is coming to Tucson in March 2010. Their new location will be at 7850 N. Oracle Road, north of Ina, by Trader Joe's. Their GF pizza is the best I have had. Commentor's sensitivity: Digestive Symptoms (gas, bloating, diarrhea, constipation, etc) and has an immediate and unmistakable reaction
Oct 29, 2008: The Picasso's address at the The Shops at Gainey Village in Scottsdale is no longer listed on their web site and there have been reports on the Phoenix listserv of problems when eating there.
Sep 28, 2008: The former Glendale location is no longer associated with Picazzo's.
May 31, 2007: We were recently in Sedona and I had a slice of their gluetin free pizza and salad, a lunch special they have (and quite reasonably priced). It was wonderful! Next time I'm in Phoenix, I'm heading for Picazzo's.
